"The Moon Lodge is the place of women, where women gather during their menstrual time to be at-one with each other and the changes ocurring in their bodies. Long ago, during this special time of moon cycles, women were removed from duties of family and allowed to retreat to the Moon Lodge to enyoy the company of their Sisters.Traditionally, the Moontime is the sacred time of woman when she is honored as a Mother of the Creative Force. During this time she is allowed to release the old energy her body has carried and prepare for reconnection to the Earth Mother's fertility that she will carry in the next Moon or month. Our Ancestors understood the importance of allowing each woman to have her Sacred Space during this time of reconnection, because women were the carriers of abundance and fertility.
As Grandmother Moon is the weaver of tides ( the water or blood of our Earth Mother) so a woman's cycles follow the rhythm of that weaving. When women live together in a common space, their bodies begin to regulate their menses and all will eventually have their Moontime concurrently. This natural rhythm is one of the bonds of Sisterhood.
Women honor their sacred path when they acknowledge the intuitive knowing inherent in their receptive nature. In trusting the cycles of their bodies and allowing the feelings to emerge within them, women have been Seers and Oracles for their tribes for centuries."

posted December 2004 by Carl Johan Calleman Humanity’s path towards retrieving the Mayan calendar system really started with the Harmonic Convergence, August 16-17, 1987, when large numbers of people in the West turned out for a spiritual celebration. Although, it was not recognized at the time, this celebration had the distinction of falling on the first two days of a traditional Mayan tzolkin (260-day) round. This befits a new beginning. Although he was not alone, José Argüelles was the main promoter of the event and in the seminal "The Mayan Factor"1 outlined several very important ideas that would later be instrumental for elucidating the meaning of the Mayan calendar system. Among many other valuable ideas he emphasized the importance of the non-physical nature of the Mayan calendar system: "Naturally, most Mayan scholars are puzzled by what appears to be the use of 260- and 360-unit "calendar" cycles that do not correspond in any precise way to perceivable astronomical or organic planetary cycles"(page 73). Although both Frank Waters and Peter Balin some ten years earlier had suggested that the Mayan calendar system had a real relevance for the spiritual evolution of mankind, Argüelles brought this insight to a new level. The contours of a cosmic plan became visible. In the subsequent years, Argüelles however left the non-physical cycles and with his wife Lloydine developed a calendar system, which was dubbed the Dreamspell/Thirteen Moon calendar and was adapted to the physical year of 365.25 years. Especially since we collaborate in certain respects I feel it is all the more important to clarify the differences between the calendar systems that we are proposing and why I instead favor a prophetic calendar system that is based on non-physical cycles. I feel in fact that there is overwhelming evidence that only a non-astronomically based calendar system can guide humanity’s path towards Enlightenment. While the issue of what is the true tzolkin count has been extensively discussed in the past the same cannot be said about the idea of dividing the solar year into thirteen moons of 28 days each plus one “day out of time”. Essentially this calendar system however seems to have been based on the premise that 28 days should correspond to the feminine cycle. Regardless, it deviates from the traditional Mayan way of counting months. At ancient steles we may see that the duration of their months alternated between 29 and 30 days.– a calendrical system that incidentally for a long time has also been used by the Jews. This raises the question of what is the duration of the true feminine cycle. Why did the ancient Maya follow a moon cycle averaging 29.5 days rather than 28? A full moon cycle is 29.53 days and in ancient mythologies the full moon is almost invariably associated with a female goddess. Among the Maya this goddess was called Ixchel and in Babylon she was called Ishtar, who was said always to menstruate on a full moon. This raises the question of why, if ancient mythologies associate the female cycles of ovulation and menstruation with the full moon cycle of 29.5 days, why do modern doctors often tell us that it is 28 days? click here for more Carl Johan Calleman has a Ph.D. in Physical Biology from the University of Stockholm and is a noted toxicologist. The Transformation of Consciousness will really take off! The Fourth Day A new phase in the evolution of the Cosmic Time Plan will soon open up; the Fourth DAY of the Galactic Underworld. This phase will begin on the Gregorian date December 4, 2004 and will last until Nov 28, 2005. This Fourth DAY is a pulse of LIGHT that will be dominating us for a period of 360 days, a period that among the Maya is called a tun, a prophetic “year” characterized by a specific spiritual energy. It represents a pulse of forward energy, of creative LIGHT, and so to use a symbolic term we may call this whole period a DAY. This coming DAY is the Fourth DAY of the Underworld that is currently affecting us the most, the Galactic Underworld, which started January 5, 1999 and will be completed on October 28, 2011 (see Figure on the next page). It is in this Fourth DAY that the transformation of consciousness in a very real sense is beginning. It will soon become evident that the Galactic Underworld propels an irreversible process that will affect the whole planet and all aspects of life. In this context, the term Underworld, borrowed from Maya-Aztec Cosmology, simply means “Level of Evolution of Consciousness”. Such an Underworld is developed according to the Cosmic Time Plan in a series of Seven pulses of LIGHT, Seven DAYS. To understand the prophetic Mayan calendar system it is imperative to realize that new levels of consciousness, or Underworlds, are developed through such series of similar pulses, series of DAYS. During these DAYS, new consciousness fields, with an origin in the Cosmic World Tree, are relayed by the inner core of the Earth and determine the creativity and perception of the human beings. Thus, the prophetic Mayan calendar system is a codification of a divine plan for the evolution of consciousness and unlike all other calendars in this world it is not astronomically based. In fact, it goes back to a time when our solar system did not even exist – to the Big Bang – and encompasses a very wide perspective of time. Jewish Women Reclaim Rituals of the New Moon
Many spiritual traditions say women's nature is linked to the moon. Maybe it's the mystery, the cycles women go through every month or the way the
moon waxes and wanes like the cycles of life.
Jewish women in southern New Jersey are returning to a celebiation of the new moon as their own special time. Once considered a holiday for women to take care of themselves and each other, the custom fell into disuse in modem times. Until now. "We forgot about it for a long time," said Adria Light of Jewish Family Service, who started the tradition again in southern New Jersey. "Some people say men took it away, and we're reclaiming it." click here for more Reprinted from The Press of Atlantic City, Elaine Rose is Staff Writer, (609) 272-7215

posted October 2001Getting Started with Medical Astrology"There's definitely a groundswell of interest in astrology, the study of the positions and aspects of heavenly bodies and their influence on our lives. Everywhere I go I meet people interested in this topic, though many won't admit it publicly. My first article on the subject - the basics of astrology and how to use it as a road map for a successful life (HWW October 1999) - is also the one that gets the most requests for reprints. And that's saying something because I've been writing an average of three articles per month for the seven years that HWVV has been in existence. posted September 2001Reclaiming Menstrual Power"Esther Harding suggests that one of the reasons for women's menstrual disabilities and PMS today is that modern culture does not provide any kind of menstrual rituals. Menstruation is just each woman's private affliction, where she suffers alone; it has no positive value or meaning. Women have been deprived of retreating to the ancient menstrual huts, where they could commune with their inner beings, attune themselves to cosmic cycles, and share in the secret knowledge passed on in the community of other bleeding women. In order to reclaim their menstrual power... click here for more" Demetra George is the author of Asteroid Goddesses, Astrology for Yourself, and Finding Our Way Through the Dark.
